Studio Blue partners to speak at National Museum Publishing Seminar in June Maggie Lewis and Cheryl Towler Weese will be addressing conference attendees during two plenary sessions for the National Museum Publishing Seminar. The conference theme is “The Voice of the Museum.” Cheryl is a panelist for the session, “What Do You Want from Me?” The Making of a Great Editor.” Maggie is a panelist for the session, “The Voice of the Museum.”

Jewish Child & Family Services Studio Blue and Drupal developer, Fuse IQ, launched a website for Jewish Child & Family Services, a social services agency serving Chicago’s diverse population with premier services.

Windows on the War: Soviet TASS Posters at Home and Abroad,a Studio Blue collaboration with the Art Institute of Chicago, reviewed by Steven Heller in Eye magazine.

Bertrand Goldberg: Architecture of Invention,recognized as one of the top 10 best architecture books of 2011 by ArchNewsNow.com. Studio Blue collaborated with Art Institute Architecture and Design curatorial staff on this monograph as well as exhibition graphics.

Newberry Library The Newberry Library reveals their new logo and launches a new website and Studio Blue is pleased to be responsible for their strategy and design. The site’s goals include the presentation of significant scholarly texts and research to serve an audience of scholars and a curious general population. The new mark’s design is influenced by the intersection of technology and illuminated manuscripts.

Easy to use, intuitive design and navigation contribute to the site’s overarching vision to encourage virtual and physical access to the Newberry’s collection, research and programs. Through online exploration tools, site visitors are encouraged to interact with original texts and thought-provoking research unique to the Newberry.

Tulane University School of Architecture Studio Blue is pleased to collaborate with the Dean and faculty at Tulane School of Architecture to design and develop a website that will contribute to positioning the school and assisting with an ambitious capital campaign. The new site will be built in Drupal to allow for future growth.

Studio Blue Four Studio Blue projects are selected in Chicago’s Society for Typographic Arts (STA) annual competition, Archive11. The projects selected include the Studio Blue website, the VPA ribbon wall (Award of Distinction), the 2011 Krannert Art Museum print material and The Strange Life of Objects: The Art of Annette Lemieux (Awards of Distinction and Judge’s Choice).

Roosevelt University The Studio Blue-designed logo for Roosevelt University made its way to the top of the university’s new 32-story academic building in Chicago’s loop. This project demonstrates the need for careful execution of identity systems so that from the smallest to the largest of applications, identity remains consistent. Congratulations to our colleagues at Roosevelt.

Spertus Spertus website launches. The new Spertus site offers a fresh opportunity to clearly communication Spertus as institution dedicated to Jewish learning and culture. Everything Spertus does is rooted in the Jewish experience. Its offerings are based on a foundation of high-quality, post-collegiate education. The new site provides clear structure and navigation, making the site easier for users to find what they need, and encounter information they did not know they wanted. An integrated content management system and training of those responsible for content enables Spertus staff to manage the site and keep it current and relevant.

Syracuse University, College of Visual and Performing Artsand Peabody Essex Museum The Syracuse University, College of Visual and Performing Arts website and the exhibition catalogue Golden: Dutch and Flemish Masterworks from the Rose-Marie and Eijk Van Otterloo Collection are recognized as Midwest winners in Print magazine’s 2011 Regional Design Annual.

Peabody Essex Museum Fiery Pool: The Maya and the Mythic Sea, a publication designed by Studio Blue in collaboration with the Peabody Essex Museum, is awarded an Honorable Mention in the Exhibition Catalogues category of the 2011 AAM Museum Publications Design Competition.

College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University The Webbys recognize the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University as an Official Honoree.

Peabody Essex Museum The Emperor’s Private Paradise: Treasures from the Forbidden City, a publication designed by Studio Blue in collaboration with the Peabody Essex Museum, is reviewed in the New York Review of Books. Studio Blue has worked with the museum on publications since 2005.

Columbia College Hollywood Studio Blue designed and developed a site for Columbia College Hollywood, a film school that offers liberal arts instruction and hands-on training for future filmmakers. To demonstrate the professional aspects of the school, we produced and directed the videos that appear throughout the site.

Mercy Home for Boys and Girls Mercy Home for Boys and Girls launches their new website. Studio Blue worked with Mercy Home on the site’s design and development to promote this renowned Chicago institution that “give[s] children in need a safe place to live and realize their full potential.”

College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University Studio Blue’s branding and environmental design for VPA is featured in the January 2011 issue of Novum, a German graphic design magazine.

Northwestern University Studio Blue begins work with Northwestern University’s Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences on a viewbook for prospective students.

Art Institute permanent collection Three additional Studio Blue projects are selected for inclusion in the Art Institute of Chicago’s permanent collection, growing the museum collection of the studio’s work: Krannert Art Museum: Selected Works, 365: AIGA Year in Design 22, and Subjective Realities: Works from the Refco Collection of Contemporary Photography.

Terra Foundation for American Art Studio Blue’s rebranding work for the Terra Foundation for American Art is launched, with new branding guidelines and an annual report.

College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University The University and College Designers Association Design Competition selects Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts website for recognition.

Krannert Art Museum The Strange Life of Objects: The Art of Annette Lemieux, a catalogue for the Krannert Art Museum, is released. The book accompanies a mid-career retrospective of the artist’s work, which travels to the Worcester Museum of Art.

Nasher Sculpture Center The Nasher Sculpture Center launches its Sightings exhibition and publication series with the work of artist Alyson Shotz. The series will explore work by established and emerging contemporary sculptors.

Peabody Essex Museum The Emperor’s Private Paradise: Treasures from the Forbidden City, an exhibition catalogue for the Peabody Essex Museum, is released. The exhibition travels to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Milwaukee Museum of Art.

Art Institute of Chicago Studio Blue begins work with the Art Institute of Chicago on an exhibition catalogue documenting the work of architect Bertrand Goldberg.
